Follow staccato as far as you can and contain the building energy, and you reach the point where you can no longer hold on. Welcome to chaos, the land of letting go. In chaos, the beat picks up a little more, and we are invited to move faster than we can think.
For chaos, the key is to surrender the head. At its simplest we release the feet to do their thing, the hips to do theirs, and then the head, with plenty of breath. With three parts of the body each making their own movements, it's impossible to stay in control: we have to let go. And of course that means we have to stay very aware of ourselves and the space around us, stay grounded as we release ourselves into the dance.
Music for chaos that I love includes most of the faster tracks by Underworld, Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love, or Arctic Monkeys' I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor.
