When we have emptied our selves out, we are invited to step into lyrical. The music may still be fast, but we let go of the effort, and let the music carry us through the space.

At its best, lyrical is a place of authenticity in movement, body, heart and mind in unity and in the moment. To drop into lyrical is to light up - it's that place where you're no longer dancing, but you're being danced, effortlessly. We can't make it happen; we can only do the groundwork (flowing, staccato, chaos) and stay awake to ourselves and each other.

At its simplest, lyrical extends from feet through hips to head and out to the hands and fingertips.

Music is vast and wide-ranging. Particular favourites include Bob Dylan's Tambourine Man, Kate Bush's Aerial, St Germain's Rose Rouge.
